As the highly anticipated AMD Radeon RX Vega graphics cards launch this upcoming July 26, AMD just couldn’t wait to treat their consumers to another powerful CPU added to their list. The California-based company then posted the AMD Ryzen Threadripper packaging to tease their consumers that are long wanting to get their hands on the product.
According to Game Debate, AMD posted on Twitter their first leaked photo of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper. However, as some don't expect the leak to be, the revealed packaging photo showed some hints. The packaging is then seen as a possibility that the Threadripper will come with an AiO liquid cooler due to its solid packaging. Yet, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper package only showed its processor heat spreader on the front.
Furthermore, the awaited AMD Ryzen Threadripper models are mentioned to be made available in two versions that boast powerful thread and core configurations. The first is the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X which packs 16-cores and 32-threads, clocking in at a 3.4 GHz base, 4.0 GHz boost clock.
On the other hand, the second model called AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X sports a 12-core and 24-thread with a base clock speed of 3.5 GHz and a similar boost clock of 4.0GHz. Both were identified to feature 64 PCI-E lanes supported with quad-channel DDR4 ram and up to 1TB of it if 128GB DIMMs. Both Threadripper models were also identified to integrate AMD’s new X399 HEDT platform.
Pricing for the Threadripper 1920X and 1950X aren’t revealed but rumors and expectations say that both will be available for $799 and $999, respectively. The price of the hefty Threadripper 1950X is said to be cheaper compared to the $1699 16-core Intel Core- i9 7960X. The release date of the Threadripper models is said to be in the first week of August as reported by Shack News.
Yet, official details on the Threadripper CPUs along with the highly anticipated Ryzen 3 chips are stated to be revealed at the upcoming SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles. For a more detailed release date, Hermitage Akihabara from VideoCardz mentioned that the CPUs will be launched on the 10th of August at 2 pm BST, 6 am PST.
