Brace yourselves as Apple launches last Tuesday a whole new set of a more advanced iMac. Just a month after the release of its iPhone 6S family, the company has brought faster processors and higher-resolution display.
To name a few upgrades, the 21.5-inch iMac is now Retina 4K ready displaying a fourfold increase in pixels compared with the standard 1080p - that is, 4096 x 2304 resolution. While the 27-inch iMacs went beyond expectation with 5K resolution display (5120 x 2880) - that is, seven times higher compared with the conventional high-definition screen.
On the other hand, talking about processors and graphics, the 4K-ready 21.5-inch iMacs come with the fifth generation of Intel's Broadwell chips and Iris Pro graphics, whereas the 27-inch is equipped with AMD Radeon R9 graphics and the Skylake, the sixth-generation Core processor of Intel. Both possess two Thunderbolt 2 ports and, thanks to the 802.11ac Wi-Fi, wireless networking speed capability can go as high as 1.3 Gbps. They are also run by the latest operating system X El Capitan.
There is more! Redesigned accessories such as the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2 were also released and are available at $99, $79 and $129, respectively. Say goodbye to disposable batteries now as these are already operated in rechargeable ones. Using the tech giant's Force Touch technology, the Magic Trackpad 2 allows users in OS X and apps to gain access to new gestures and controls.
The 21.5-inch iMacs are priced at $1,399, while those with Retina 4K display are at $1,899. On the other hand, the top-of-the-line 27-inch iMacs start at $2,299 up to $2,999. Those on a tight budget or non-techie folks can still use regular display iMacs available at $1,099. All of these can now be purchased at the company's website Apple.com, on Apple's retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
