There are now alarming changes in the environment and different organizations in the world is doing everything to address the increasing effect of climate change. But one of the most influential and most powerful nations, the United States, is still unsure of its commitment to the 2015 Paris Agreement, which aims to battle greenhouse gasses emission. However, this uncertainty on US' stand over the deal did not stop the United Nation (UN) to hold formal talks on said climate accord.
Top officials gathered in Bonn, Germany starting Monday as the UN still holds formal talks on the said climate accord to finally solve how the 2015 Paris agreement should be implemented by the participating countries. The meeting will last for ten days and will end on May 18 as reported by Business Insider but the organization has to do it without the American powerhouse.
As the UN holds formal talks on said climate accord, the members will focus on the main objectives of the 2015 Paris Agreement, which is the funding of the climate agency in 2020 and drawing out solutions to the repercussions of global warming. According to ABC news, the deal was believed to be ambitious as it aims to slash global average temperature that is now at 2 degrees Celsius or 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
It was a big surprise that the US was out of the picture as the UN holds formal talks on said climate accord as its former president Barrack Obama played an important role in forging the treaty two years ago. But now with President Donald Trump taking on the White House, the country's stand in the agreement has been a big question mark for many. The administration has canceled its meeting set on Tuesday to deliberate its final position on the 2015 Paris Agreement, which Trump has vowed to pull out.
