Asus announced last Monday, May 15, that owners of the Asus ZenFone 3 Max will now have the update of Android 7.1.1 Nougat delivered to their phones. The update will take about one week to be distributed to all designated smartphones, which also include the Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe

The announcement of the Android Nougat update for Asus ZenFone 3 Max and ZenFone 3 Deluxe was given by the Senior Community Specialist at Asus, Niko James Reducto in the official forum of Asus ZenFone. The update will be delivered to every Asus ZenFone 3 Max using the Firmware Over The Air or FOTA.

"Android 7.1.1 Nougat is scheduled to roll out via FOTA update for ZenFone 3 Max 5.5," Reducto wrote in the announcement. "It will take about one week for the system to complete the autopush."

Asus also announced the alternative method to initiate the update of Android 7.1.1 Nougat if the update prompt is not received. Users of Asus ZenFone 3 Max can activate the manual update from the Settings - Menu - System update.

Although the official announcement only mentions the update is only available for Asus ZenFone 3 Max, but it was also meant for another model. According to Phone Arena, the released notes of the update mentioned model ZS550KL or Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

Prior to the update for the Asus ZenFone 3 Max, the Android 7.1.1. Nougat update was first announced by Google in December 2016. The update was aimed to update some small fixes in the Android Nougat. The update is a maintenance update, which means to fix some issues related to MMS.

Asus ZenFone 3 Max was released in July 2016, powered by the 1.25 GHz Cortex-A53 Quadcore processor from MediaTek with Mali-T720MP2 GPU. This model is known by its high capacity battery of 4100 mAh, which capable to stay on for two days in the intensive working condition.
