As Samsung had released the Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship device, tech consumers are torn whether which they will buy between the Galaxy S8 and S7 Edge. Luckily, specs and camera comparisons among the two killer smartphones were revealed.

According to TNH Online, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features 5.8 inches Super AMOLED Infinity display with a 2960×1440 pixels resolution while the Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5 inches Super AMOLED screen with a 2560×1440 pixels resolution. The Galaxy S8 was described to be protected with Gorilla Glass 5 protection as the S7 Edge with Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

Speaking of inner specs, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 paired with an Adreno 540 GPU while the Galaxy S7 Edge runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 alongside an Adreno 530 GPU. Both is identified to have 4 GB RAM but the Galaxy S8 only allows expandable built-in memory up to 64 GB. The S8 is said to house a battery pack of 3000 mAh while the S7 Edge has the upper hand of 3600 mAh battery power.

Regarding the camera competition between the two, the rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy S8 features Dual Pixel 12-megapixel sensor with a f/1.7 aperture and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). LED flash, optical image stabilization (OIS) and auto HDR were mentioned as well. The S8’s selfie snapper is said to have 8-megapixel autofocus sensor with a wide-angle lens as reported by GSM Arena.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with a f/1.7 aperture for low-light photography along with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), LED flash, auto HDR, and optical image stabilization (OIS). The front camera of the S7 Edge is stated to be a 5-megapixel sensor camera. However, it was deemed that the camera of the Galaxy S8 gives more detail on the image while the S7 Edge’s wide-angle selfie snapper and exposure capabilities is widely acknowledged.

Nonetheless, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is still said to top the Samsung Galaxy S8 due to its camera performance and its price. However, it all depends on what the buyer’s preferences are. Yet, there are also reports that a Samsung spokesperson concluded that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are selling twice the sales number of the S7 Edge.
