A current rumor has already hinted that Google will release two Pixel-branded smartphones in 2017. Significantly, a new report now suggested that LG will manufacture the Google Pixel XL 2.

Tech users have to wait some more time to avail the official announcement about the upcoming Google handsets for 2017. But, new reports and rumors about the new Pixel smartphones have been surfacing for some time. A recent rumor hinted that Google has canceled the Google Pixel XL's successor model, Muskie. Reports say Google will replace this model with a bigger one, the Taimen, probably the ultimate Google Pixel XL 2.

According to 9 TO 5 Google, a current bug report is now indicating that tech giant LG will manufacture this bigger handset. In a word, the second generation Pixel XL or the Google Pixel XL 2 will be made by the said South Korean mobile manufacturer. Last year the Taiwanese mobile company HTC manufactured two Google smartphones, the Google Pixel and the Pixel XL.

People earlier thought that HTC would be the only manufacturer of Google's next handsets in 2017. But, a different picture now surfaces and it seems that the Taiwanese mobile manufacturer will only build the successor of the original Google Pixel. On the other hand, LG will be the manufacturer of the new Google Pixel XL 2.

It is not the first time that Google and LG would work together to produce the Google Pixel XL 2. Both the companies previously worked together and produced popular Nexus devices, like the Nexus 4, 5. According to GSMArena, the interesting thing is two different companies will manufacture two Google Pixel handsets.

HTC will probably produce Walleye and South Korean tech company LG will make Taimen. Walleye is the codename of the Google Pixel's direct successor model. No doubt this incident is unprecedented in the short history of the Pixel line.

The original Google Pixel handsets of 2016 had some similarities in design. Both the handsets looked identical. Now it is time to see whether differences or similarities will prevail between the Google Pixel XL 2 and the Google Pixel's successor model.
