CALIFORNIA -- US state has been declared drought-free for the first time in more than seven years. The generous rains that came with winter have filled the state reservoirs. The snowpack in the Sierra Nevada has also increased by as much as 50%. This level is higher than its recorded average.

Since June of 2011, California has been on the list of states suffering from massive drought. It has caused a lot of people to suffer when their crops died due to lack of water supply. After years of being in the list, California residents can now breathe better knowing that the moisture deficit isn't as severe as it used to be. There is still a little down but it is not enough to cause environmental and economic hardship among its residents.

The current picture of California land is so much better than the ones published a few months back. The worst has happened to them when their drought hit nearly 70 percent of the total area was suffering from severe drought and its Sierra snowpack virtually had zero.

Meteorologists say that people should be prepared for extreme changes in weather conditions. It will continue as long as the climate is changing due to the effects of greenhouse gases on Earth.

The drought has put a lot of lives and livelihood in danger of unimaginable conditions. The extreme heat caused a lot of animals to die, while people also got their share of suffering. The heat caused them to suffer from diseases like heat stroke. It caused some communities their livelihood making it even more difficult to survive in these challenging times.

But now that California is declared drought-free, the state hopes its people would be able to recover from all their losses. They are also looking into educating more people about the harsh effects of global warming to help them understand that the problem is something real.

Although California has been saved from extreme drought and all that the conditions come with, other parts of the United States are not as lucky. Currently, the people in New Mexico are the ones suffering. They now belong to the category of severity that is extremely exceptional. IN a drought of this kind, the losses of crops and shortage of water are just two of the many problems that people may suffer from.

It is expected that the people in New Mexico would be needed help and they can only hope that help will come. Though their drought might not be an issue that the world will worry about, they do hope it would help people realize the many things they are doing to bring about such problems to the world.

After all, when the world takes little steps to making a change, altogether, their change could make a huge difference.
