It was a warm day in California, and Jennifer and Dave Simon would take their baby, Livia, out for a walk on this perfect morning. But her stroller is sitting idle and Livia has been stuck in the house for nearly a month.

It all started on the 2nd of January when the Simons took Livia to the pediatrician to get checked up because she was having cold. Two days later, the doctor called the Simons to let them know that a child suffering from measles had been in the office that same day.

As we all know, measles is one of the most contagious diseases on Earth because it can hang in on air or on a surface for hours. And a person suffering from measles would either become deaf, or in worst cases, die.

But the story goes way back when there was a measles outbreak in the Disneyland, which ended up with a whopping 52 people contracting this contagious disease. Doctors are suspecting that Livia would be the 53rd person to contract, and so she is in a 28-day quarantine.

Livia is in the quarantine because a family that visited the doctor's office earlier that day, refused to vaccinate their child from measles.

"We were really freaking out and really worried," Jennifer Simon said.

The issue here is that Livia is just 6 months old, and so, she cannot be vaccinated.

According to CNN, a spokeswoman said that 9 infants are quarantined in Alameda County, where Simon lives, as of Tuesday night because of this outbreak.

Jennifer mentions that the family who refused to get their child vaccinated, are relying on other people to protect their children. If the rest of the community is vaccinated, it helps keep the disease spreading from the people who are unvaccinated.

Livia's quarantine ends Friday.
