Elon Musk, Neuralink is Looking For a Clinical Trial Director Job

Neuralink has a new job opening for a Clinical Trial Director, and it's the talk of the town as to what the company's next steps will be for its technology. Elon Musk's renowned neuroscience firm is currently looking for a specialist to administer brain implants while the company is still in the experimental stage.

According to the job description, the new director will work closely with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the licensing of the implants available shortly. For the time being, the hunt is only focused on the director's arrival rather than volunteers for the human brain implant technology.

Bloomberg also mentioned that the director would also work with Neuralink participants. However, it is unclear whether this is for the implants.

Human trials are still in limbo for Neuralink. Still, rumors suggest that they are on the verge of becoming a reality, according to a job opportunity for a director of clinical trials.

Musk and Neuralink's vision will be realized shortly, especially in terms of the company's offerings. Initially, the CEO spoke of a "symbiosis" between technology and people, thanks to the implants. With the assistance of technology, brain implants will improve a person's overall performance.

Employees Leaving Neuralink

Last year, the public saw the departure of Neuralink co-founder Max Hodak, who stated that he was seeking other chances. Hodak's exit from the firm isn't a harsh pill to swallow after putting it totally in Musk's hands, and it demonstrates a commitment to Neuralink's innovation and upcoming role as a healthcare provider.

Ex-employees told Stat News in 2020 that the clinical trials director post would put them in a chaotic scientific atmosphere where they would be pressured to achieve scientific advances on unrealistically short timescales. They'd have to deal with Musk's repeated claims of timetables that haven't yet materialized, as well as his publicly stated objectives that continue to exceed what experts consider to be acceptable expectations for brain-machine interfaces. Nothing like that is mentioned in the job description, The Verge said.

Nonetheless, the company's hunt for its new clinical trial director is significant because it signals only one thing: it is ready to move forward with the implants. However, the technology did not demonstrate its preparedness for the implantation, leaving the public to guess if the experiments will be conducted on people or animals, as it did the previous time.
