Latest Update:

The number of Ebola cases have gone down in the past few months in West Africa countries that have been affected mostly by the virus. However, there is still a determination by health professionals not to relax on the fight against the virus until zero cases. The World Health Organization on Ebola Research and Development announced that an effective Ebola vaccine that was developed in Canada maybring some hope in controlling the virus that is spreading faster, and may even bring it to an end.

Scientific Studies and Research:

The new Ebola vaccine is set for a trial test on Saturday in Basee Guinee to see the effectiveness of the vaccine. The trial will be able to show if the vaccine is capable of protecting those immunized with it. The Canadian Government will provide its support toward a trial of the vaccine through training the African research teams.

Dangerous Side Of Ebola:

There are 9729 recent cases of death from the Ebola outbreak reported from six countries that include Liberia, US, Sierra Leone, Mali, Nigeria and Guinea since February 28th, although the total cases that have been reported are more than 23,948. The World Health Organization says that the figures given may not be the actual figures but just estimates because of the challenges involved in data collection. The World Health Organization reported that there have been no new cases of Ebola virus that were reported since September 5th. The Organization has however declared the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria and Sierra Leone officially over following the absence of new cases.

The Ebola outbreak has been traced back to the death of a two year toddler in December 2013, according to researchers from the New England Journal of Medicine. The toddler is said to have died in a small village at Meliandou in south eastern Guinea.
