Developing an investment strategy is one of the essential steps to being successful at trading. Furthermore, narrowing your focus to a specific niche helps you build knowledge and expertise quickly, making investing in the sector easier. The science industry has historically done well, and you can achieve great success if you try your hand out in the sector.

Investment opportunities in the sciences can come in either of two ways. New companies that are doing well with the possibility of growing large, which are also the risky option, or the usual industry players that are tried and tested. But with good research and hard work, you can make it work with either.

In this trading guide, we will look at some of the four companies in the scientific field that might be good investment opportunities you should be keeping your eye on. So keep reading to learn more.

1. Boston Dynamics

Boston Dynamics is a robotics company in Massachusetts that is developing some of the most impressive robots so far. They have Spot, an inspection robot that can traverse different terrain and scenes to gather data and spare human personnel from having to risk their lives. They have also developed one of the most advanced warehouse robots that increase operational efficiency.

Furthermore, Boston Dynamics is one of the world's leading machine learning and IA companies. Many big players, including the automotive industry, have expressed interest in the company that's currently under Hyundai's management. However, Boston Dynamic is still not yet publicly traded, but we think it's just a matter of time, and you should definitely keep your eye out for their IPO.

2. Boston Scientific

Keeping with the Boston theme, Boston Scientific is another company we think you should keep an eye on. Its offices are also in Massachusetts and were ranked 35th on Glassdoor's list in 2018. But you probably want to know what they do. Boston Scientific develops and manufactures specialised medical devices, such as interventional radiology and cardiology machines, just to name a few.

By 2016, the company was already reporting revenues of upwards of $8 billion and over 27,000 employees. The company is also highly innovative and has a few new devices in development or in the process of getting approved by the FDA.

3. Johnson and Johnson

Johnson and Jonson is a big pharma conglomerate in the medical field that has been among the top best-performing companies in the last 100 years. It has pioneered medical breakthroughs over the decades that have helped many sick people and made its shareholders immense wealth. In 2020, Johnson and Johnson was part of the scientific community that worked hard to get a vaccine for Covid 19 and was one of the companies to get theirs approved.

The Covid vaccine helped the company's shares to rise in value, but we feel that Jonson will keep growing because they are innovative and as they unveil new inventions in the future.

And if there is something history has taught us, it's that you should always keep your eye on Jonson and Jonson.

4. Oxford Nanopore

Oxford Nanopore is a company based out of Oxford, UK, dealing with gene sequencing and mapping. Its nanopore technology helps scientists to use electric current to analyse DNA and RNA fragments in real-time. Furthermore, the virginning company had received upwards of £650 million in funding to expand its operations in 2020. In addition, it's publicly traded, and we only expect good things in the future from this company.

If you're looking to invest in science, Oxford Nanopore is as science as it gets, and it also doesn't hurt that its prospects are not looking bad.

Conclusion

Deciding what field to invest in is never easy. You will have to live with the decisions you make at the beginning of your investment journey for the foreseeable future and live with the outcome for the rest of your life. On the other hand, the scientific industry can be an excellent place to set up your investment shop, but it can also be engulfed by scandals and routinely blur moral lines.

However, if you're thick-skinned and think you can handle it, we wish you the best of luck and hope this list helps you.
