Food poisoning is an illness which occurs by consuming contaminated food or water. Its main causes are some specific kind of bacteria, viruses and parasites such as Staphylococcus or E. coli. Food poisoning usually ends in one to two days but sometimes it could be life threatening. Mostly, food poisoning occur after eating at restaurants, social gathering, picnic, canteens or by eating ready to cook or canned food which is contaminated.

Symptoms:

The symptoms of food poisoning can start appearing within hours of consuming contaminated food or they may start in days or week depending upon the type of microbe that caused infection. The symptoms also vary in their severity according to the type of infectious agent.

Most common and initial symptoms of food poisoning include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, fever and abdominal cramps.

Symptoms of Chemical Food Poisoning:

Food poisoning can sometimes occur by eating animals or plants containing toxins such as poisonous mushrooms, contaminated fish etc. Its symptoms include:

Symptoms of Botulism Food Poisoning:

Botulism is severe kind of food poisoning which is quite rare. It can lead to paralysis of infected person. Food-borne botulism is caused by a rare type of bacteria and it is an emergency case it can cause death of a person if not treated instantly. Its symptoms include:

§  Doubled or blurred vision

§  Partial loss of speech

§  Dry mouth

§  Difficulty swallowing

§  Weakness

§  Muscle Paralysis
