The Vampire Diaries Season 6 seemed to slow down to a drag after the first six episodes, but it came back with a bang with the last four episodes. In fact, quite a bit has happened in the 16th episode. Sheriff Forbes's death though was the crux of the whole episode. With Bonnie's arrival from the prison world, the show is sure to take an exciting turn. With the seventeenth episode set for release on March 12, 2015, the season is going to get darker and more surreal.

Damon gets the shock of his life when he learns the truth that his mother is alive and present in 1903 in the prison world. Furthermore, Kai enlightens him that this can only happen if his mother is a supernatural being, meaning she might have been a vampire all along. Damon learns that his mother, Lily Salvatore, left him of her own will.

Meanwhile, there are telltale signs of something more than friendship between Bonnie and Damon. Whether Bonnie and Damon are going to be togethewill be unraveled in the next few episodes. How things are going to turn out for Caroline after she switches her humanity off will be interesting to watch as well.

Additionally Stefan has to deal with the guilt of not only letting Caroline lose her humanity but also the feeling that he could have persuaded Caroline not to do so if he had unveiled his feeling to her earlier. Yes, the next few episodes are going to deal with characters coming to terms with new lifestyles.

There are speculations that since no one is in the picture with Bonnie, then she and Matt can become a couple by next season. Although the idea in itself is preposterous, fans still have something to celebrate with the imminent Alaric wedding.

CW has set the date for the finale of The Vampire Diaries Season 6 on May 14, 2015.
