Everyone around the globe knows what McDonald's offers and one can definitely say it out loud fastly, it's fast food. But, it was recently found out that McDonald's is having some "menu changes", according to a nutritionist.

According to an article written by CNN's nutrition journalist Lisa Drayer, McDonald's is taking a bold move as it slowly shifts into the healthier side. It was just recently when McDonald's already included seasonal fruits and dairy products together with their Happy Meals. Although this is just currently available in the US, nutritionists are praising this effort, especially that McDonald's Happy Meals are known to be best-sellers among kids.

Aside from the Happy Meals, your favorite McCafe offerings are getting some makeover as well. For a healthier option, nutritionists suggest steering clear of carbonated and sugar-filled drinks which usually comes along with the fast food meals of McDonald's. Instead, one can instead choose to just have water or for McCafe drinks, choose its Latte that uses nonfat milk.

Usually, vegetarians and vegans don't consider visiting the nearest fast food chains out there because definitely there are no options for them there. But, McDonald's just have some for them. As nutritionists suggest, vegetarians can have this combo: fruit and yogurt parfait (snack/mini meal) or Southwest salad (no chicken) with Newman's own creamy Southwest dressing. Vegans, on the other hand, can also enjoy the Southwest salad with Newman's own low-fat balsamic vinaigrette.

If you're an athlete or just someone who's conscious of the calories on your foods, McDonald's also had what you're looking for. Athletes can satisfy their cravings but at the same time have a balance with the nutritional requirements they needed for their sports with an artisan grilled chicken sandwich. They can also opt to have a fruit and maple oatmeal without brown sugar and fat-free chocolate milk. For the calorie-counters out there, McDonald's just updated their website with a very user-friendly nutrition calculator.

These offerings are indeed praise-worthy even if most are only found in the US as of the time of writing. McDonald's shift has long been under the scrutiny of the public's eye. Way back in 2014 as noted by Business Insider, McDonald's became transparent with the processes of their foods as consumer information became widely spread especially in the US. The said chain answered questions such as where do they get their poultry products are their eggs organic, and if their fries are made out of 100 percent potatoes.

Aside from McDonald's, several brands are trying their best to be on the healthier side. This includes the likes of Burger King and Subway.
