Soot: What Is It? And How Does It Contribute to Climate Change

Soot, a by-product of incomplete combustion, is as destructive as methane in terms of pollution/. Despite humans producing soot for generations much of its formation isn't clear. Scientists are on a mission to find out how soot forms from the flame to prevent its destructive effects on the environment and public health.
