A poster which has leaked in the past week revealed that Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone named as Xiaomi Mi 5X. However, an official Weibo post from the company also confirms that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will be launching with MIUI 9 on this July 26.
The Weibo post confirms the release date for both Xiaomi Mi 5X and MIUI 9. In 2016, the MIUI 8 was unveiled with Mi Max phablet, therefore, it was speculated that MIUI 9 would be introduced alongwith the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. However, it did not happen like that. So now, it looks like that Xiaomi had planned to reveal the MIUI 9 with a new device, the Xiaomi Mi 5X, as reported by Gizmochina.
Speculations about Xiaomi Mi 5X claims that a higher variant of the smartphone could also launch featuring Snapdragon 660 chipset and 6 GB RAM. Both the variants of the Xiaomi Mi 5X are said to feature 12-megapixel dual rear cameras which will include a Sony IMX386 sensor and a Samsung S5k3m3 sensor. The device is rumored to have a front camera of 16-megapixel, as reported by GSM Arena.
MIUI 9 will be first revealed in its Chinese ROM format. However, the Global variant of the ROM will take time, generally coinciding with the launch of a prominent device with MIUI 9 in an important market like India. For the rollout, the MIUI 9 will first land on a limited number of smartphones in the first batch and then it will eventually then expand batch wise to ensure that any unforeseen bugs are caught and dealt with before the wide rollout.
Xiaomi is sending invitations for a July 26 event where it will unveil the Xiaomi Mi 5X with MIUI, as said earlier. The Mi 5X is said to have a price tag of 1,999 CNY, which is roughly €256.
