The long-awaited electrification of the semi-truck by Tesla is coming soon. But before its rollout in December, Elon Musk said that the Tesla Semi had finished its 500-mile test, which hauled up to 81,000 pounds for its total load capacity. The CEO also asked Bill Gates to drive the big vehicle.

Soon, everyone will be able to use the new Tesla Semi's clean energy features, which will change how big corporations and companies deliver in this age of electric vehicles.

Elon Musk Asks Bill Gates to Drive Semi

Meanwhile, Bill Gates wrote a blog in 2020 about how he felt about the future of transportation. In his post, he said he liked electric cars, but he clearly didn't think batteries are a good way to power heavy machinery. This includes the Tesla Semi, which is a Class 8 vehicle. Gates says that big vehicles like 18-wheeler trucks should use cheap fuels that aren't oil.

After Gates's criticisms, Elon Musk replied in a tweet that the Microsoft co-founder "has no idea." Musk also said in a recent tweet that Gates could even drive the Tesla Semi if he wanted to. Fair enough, that would be a good way for Gates to see what large battery-powered vehicles could do and be persuaded that these kinds of solutions are possible. That is, of course, assuming that the co-founder of Microsoft would want to drive the Semi himself.

Tesla Semi Containing 81,000 Lbs. Load Completes 500-Mile Drive

Elon Musk added in a separate tweet that he is proud of what Tesla has done. Musk pointed out that Tesla Semi, a huge electric vehicle that just finished a 500-mile test drive, showed off its capabilities. It shows that the EV can handle a long drive, which could help companies and drivers go nonstop without having to pay extra for going too far places.

The Tesla Semi was recently put through a test focused on its limits. The company drove the truck for 500 miles while carrying its hauler's entire load of 81,000 pounds.

This was done by the electric vehicle, which showed that it can carry a huge load and still get to where the company says the cargo hauler can go.

The "beast" from Tesla looks like it could be the future of trucking. The company plans to ship the first preorders of the vehicle in December. Reports say that the company will start sending these huge vehicles out of its factories to their new owners by the end of this month. This will end the long wait to use a Tesla electric semi-truck.
