The 2018 Ford Mustang and F-150 will launch another pedestrian detection system that can visualize or see in the dark. Ford as of now offers pedestrian detection technology, yet interestingly, it will include night vision.
The additional capability could avoid many pedestrian road deaths of which most incidents happen in the dark. In 2015, three out of four pedestrian road deaths in the U.S. happened in the dark.Using a radar in the 2018 Ford Mustang and F-150'S bumper and a camera on the windshield, the pedestrian detection system can recognize pedestrians from objects, such as trees or street signs.
Because of the video live coverage and the review point, it can detect pedestrians around night time using just the beam of the headlights. After the system identifies a pedestrian, it will caution the driver with the sound of being heard and visual alarms, and if the driver fails to respond, the vehicle will automatically brake to avoid an accident.
"We know some drivers find hitting the road around evening time an upsetting or stressful experience Particularly driving in towns and urban communities, pedestrian - sometimes distracted by mobiles - can without notice step into the street, leaving even alert drivers very little time to avoid an accident," said Gregor Allexi, dynamic safety engineer for Ford of Europe, in a current release. "Day and night, Pedestrian Detection is made to help distinguish individuals as of now in - or going to step into - the street ahead."
Ford tried the new pedestrian technology by sending life-sized dummies into the path of vehicles after dark. Some part of the testing happened on open streets or public roads in Paris and Amsterdam, the automaker says.Both the 2018 Ford Mustang and F-150 acquire new safety features for the 2018 model year, including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection.
The Mustang gets extra new features, like, distance alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and the Driver Alert System that battles sleepy driving. Notwithstanding the Mustang and F-150, the night- capable pedestrian system will advance toward the next-gen Fiesta in Europe.
