The megalodon is a prehistoric apex predator in the ocean that went extinct millions of years ago. It is believed to be one of the largest fish on record, with its massive teeth three times larger than the modern great white shark. Hence it was given the scientific name Otodus megalodon.

Due to its massive size, some experts said that megalodon sharks also has a huge penis. Its phallus size is reportedly about the same size or bigger than a great white shark.

Prehistoric Megalodon's Penis Bigger Than A White Shark

A megalodon could grow up to four times the size of an average great white shark. The great whites are the largest predatory fish on Earth, according to National Geographic. So, it's not surprising if it would have a massive penis.

The extinct shark species had a 20 feet penis, which is larger than the biggest great white shark ever found, measuring 19.5 feet, Daily Star reported. Peter Klimley a shark expert at the University of California at Davis also said the same.

"A great white is about the size of the clasper, or penis, of a male Megalodon," he stated.

No One Knows What Megalodon Looks Like

Earlier this year, a scientific study revealed that no one knows what the megalodon exactly looks like. Shark researchers from DePaul University said that the mystery makes paleontology an exciting scientific field.

Professor Kenshu Shimada, the co-author of the study, said that their research shed light on the reality of the current understanding of megalodon's body shape. SciTech Daily reported that the results might be a step backward in science. However, the team believes that it has only made the field exciting to uncover.

Megalodon is typically portrayed as super-sized sharks in novels and films, such as the notable 2018 sci-fi film "The Meg." The media portrayed the megalodon shark as a 60-foot marine predator that could weigh over 50 tons and feed on whales, dolphins, and seals.

Phillip Sternes, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California and the lead author of the study, said that the findings show no scientific means to support or refute the accuracy of the size of the megalodon. For now, they continue to rely on fossils, mainly from the tooth discovered in different parts of the world.

Is the Megalodon Back?

Speaking of megalodon teeth, these terrifying beasts that consume up to a ton of food every day are allegedly back to the ocean's deep waters after a diver named Jalil Najafov saw some bite marks on a rock that resemble that of a megalodon.

Daily Star reported that a social media user claims to have spotted a megalodon and the damage it left to a passing shark while diving. He shared some photos of the incredible bite marks that the massive shark left. The diver believes what he saw could be evidence of the return of megalodon, which went extinct 3.6 million years ago.

These massive sharks were fearsome and once ruled the deep waters of the ocean, preying on large marine animals as well. The news outlet checked it with an expert researcher Dr. Tristan Guttridge, but he said that the bite marks were likely from another shark. On the other hand, it is also possible that it came from another ocean-dwelling predator that is remarkably larger than a shark.
