There have been reports of a meteorite hitting a home in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, in India earlier this week after falling from the sky.

Local reports said the space rock that crashed into the house on Monday night damaged the iron net and a nearby wall.

Meteorite Fell From Sky, Hits Indian Home

A meteorite impacted Sunil Gupta's home in the Pilibhit neighborhood of Inayat Ganj, a retired bank employee, DNA India said.

Gupta claims that when he awoke on Tuesday morning, his iron roof net and the wall next to it were both destroyed.

A sizable stone was also resting on the roof.

According to him, this stone was intensely heated for more than seven hours and stood out from other stones.

The family was also shocked to see a huge stone-like item laying on the roof; they claimed it was still hot when they discovered it.

According to local media accounts, the unidentified item weighs about 14 kilograms.

Although it has not yet been determined whether the unknown item is a meteorite, experts have noted that such occurrences are not unusual.

Other Meteorite Case

In another news, WIONews mentioned earlier this month that a meteorite fell through a Canadian roof and landed just next to a woman's pillow.

The incident happened in Canada's British Columbia area in October. Ruth Hamilton, the woman, will undoubtedly have nightmare memories of the day even though many others in Canada were recently rewarded with a stunning sight of meteorites and fireballs in the sky.

She was startled out of sleep by the meteorite's loudness and smash. The debris was tangible on her face. She discovered a rock-sized meteorite fragment on her bed next to her pillow.

Not the first thing she would have thought of in her stunned state was that this would be a space rock. According to WIONews, Ruth called 911. When the police arrived, they discovered that there had not been a home invasion. In addition, they determined that the rock couldn't have come from a neighboring building site.

Meteorites Explained

Space rocks called meteorites are those that hit the Earth's surface, India Times said. They might be the remains of space-born objects like comets, asteroids, or meteoroids that make it through the atmosphere and land on the planet's surface.

It can also come in various sizes, from small particles to huge chunks.

Celestial bodies often disintegrate when they crash into space and then conflict with the earth's gravity.

As a result, some meteorite pieces move toward Earth.

The largest specimen of its species ever found on Earth was unearthed in Hoba, Namibia. The Hoba meteorite is so large heavy-approximately 54,000 kilograms that it has never been removed from its original location.

Both the wealthy who preserve them as collectibles and the scientists who research the unusual alien object place a great value on them.
