Could the Mysterious Chinese Spy Balloon be Carrying Bioweapons?

Harris Faulkner from Fox News reportedly welcomed Comer last to the show on February 3 after Jennifer Griffin, national security correspondent, issued a sober report regarding this spy balloon.

As part of the interview, Faulner asked Comer about his greatest concern in tracking the huge Chinese spy balloon, which is as big as three buses and can hardly be substantiated. Comer replies that he thinks that this may be another illustration of the weakness of the administration on a national scale. Comer further expresses that the balloon should never have been able to cross into the United States.

His concern is that the federal government is unaware of what the Chinese spy balloon could hold. Could it be filled with bioweapons? Did it come from Wuhan? There is hardly anything known about this balloon. Comer expresses that it is very concerning, considering the fact that the balloon spent several days making its way into the United States and yet no one was alerted by the administration regarding the spy balloon's presence. He mentions that the administration did not take it down before it entered the US.

While this has been the case, the administration took action not long after.

US Takes Down Chinese Spy Balloon

Just last February 4, the US reportedly shot down the Chinese spy balloon. According to Forbes, this was after the administration granted a go-signal to shoot the balloon down after it hovered over the Atlantic Ocean. This followed the urges of lawmakers to urgently destroy this spy balloon.

The Chinese spy balloon was reportedly shot down by fighter jets from the US Air Force just a little past 2:30 PM on Saturday. Forbes notes that this was confirmed by President Joe Biden, who tasked the Pentagon to take it down as soon as possible without causing harm to those on the ground.

An F-22 Raptor from Virginia's Langley Air Force Base called the shots. It fired a missile from six nautical miles off the South Carolina coast.

According to the Associate Press, officials from the White House have been thinking of a plan to take down the balloon as it moved from South Carolina toward the federal coasts, where the balloon could be recovered and where its debris could be gathered.

CNN says that ships and divers from the US Navy are expected to proceed with this recovery. Vessels from the Coast Guard and Navy are also making sure that the area is secure.
