Donald Trump is now getting more attentive to go by his earlier promises for making the United States great again. In a bid to bring more tight immigration measures, the U.S. Department of Justice threatened California and other eight 'sanctuary' cities which refuse to follow federal immigration laws. Alongside, all the sanctuary cities< trump has also warned a dozen of state and local governments of the country which do not fully cooperate with U.S. Immigration Department.

According to Reuters, the sanctuary cities are those which engage themselves to safeguard the rights of illegal immigrants by denying the municipal funds provided to them for the proper implementation and advancement of federal immigration regulations.

Majorly, the cities that have witnessed this threat are the state of California, New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Clark County, Nevada, New Orleans, Miami-Dade County, Florida, and Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Cook County and Illinois. Trump stated that by giving shelter to undocumented immigrants these cities and counties are violating federal laws and also increasing the public threat of risk by illegal migrants who were once arrested for crimes.

As per another report by Mail Online, the Justice department has given the deadline until June 30, 2017, to all the sanctuary cities for proving that they are nor violating any federal immigration law. Otherwise, the jurisdiction has hinted to cut down the aid of about $29 million under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program, which accounts nearly around 11 percent of the total distributed budget of $256 million in the last fiscal year. It should be noted in this aid that this aid is generally used by the local governments for paying for almost every important aspects from forensics labs to drug courts.

While U.S. Justice department is deploying so much toughness for debarring illegal immigration throughout the country, The California State Senate approved a bill earlier this month to curb down the cooperation between local police agencies and federal immigration executives for the purpose of deporting illegal immigrants. It is now to see how this threat will turn into reality for all the sanctuary cities.
