Plantronics has introduced a new headset called the 'Backbeat 500' for just $79. They feature 40mm drivers and also come with a 3.5mm audio jack while also offering wireless capabilities. The new headset has an acoustically advanced technology for providing a rich sound by providing the right balance.

The Plantronics Backbeat 500 headset offers on-ear controls that let the user play or pause the current song, or just skip it. There's also controls for adjusting the volume and receive phone calls with a single touch. There's a memory foam padding for the earcups.

Plantronics predicts 18 hours of listening and talk time on a single charge. The Backbeat 500 headset also connects multiple devices and can be set up easily. For a price of $79, a review from PCMag highlights its comfortable listening experience while providing an excellent audio quality considering its price.

It's challenging to pick a good headset within the sub  $100 price range. Plantronics has done a fantastic job with the Backbeat 500 headset since it handles deep bass quite decently. It doesn't have great looks for a headset but that said, it has a great build quality with a nice quality construction.

The Backbeat 500 headset is built with plastic and hence isn't too heavy but the arms connecting the earcups are metal. The report mentions that it doesn't really cause any fatigue even for an on-ear headset. The headset is mainly available in color choices of gray, dark gray and white versions.

The website has recommended the Backbeat 500 headset with their editor's choice award due to lower costs but with no compromise in the audio quality of the headset. The headset stays charged for up to six months with their DeepSleep mode putting the device into hibernation, even if the headset is left with the power still turned on.
