Samsung Galaxy S8’s infinity screen and other functions indeed attract tech consumers. Yet, the South Korea-based company announced that the smartphone’s voice assistant Bixby isn’t ready for voice recognition and would work on expanding its functions instead.

According to Financial Times, Samsung Galaxy S8’s Bixby is indeed a rival for Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana, Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. But, as Samsung had announced that the voice recognition capacity of Bixby would be delayed, mixed comments rampage the web.

Some like Jan Dawson, an analyst at Jackdaw Research stated that Samsung should’ve waited for the integration of Viv Lab into Bixby’s technology. While Bryan Ma, an analyst at IDC identified Samsung Galaxy S8’s infinity screen feature draws more attention that Bixby. It was then stated that after the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, the tech giant should launch a clean release of the S8.

Moreover, a Samsung spokesperson said in a statement that “Bixby Voice will be available in the U.S. on the Galaxy S8 later this spring.” Nonetheless, other features of Bixby would still be available this upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 launch, only its Voice feature will be delayed.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ launch at April 21 would still feature some of the powerful features of Bixby as reported. Bixby Vision will still be featured which allows the AI assistant to give information on objects captured by the camera. Bixby Reminder and Bixby Home was mentioned as well.

Gizbot then reported that the reason for the delay is that Samsung Galaxy S8’s Bixby assistant is expanding its functions and language support. It was said that Bixby would only be available in English and Korean language. Yet, the company’s official German website mentioned that it will support German in the fourth quarter of the year.

If that isn’t the case, it was stated by the publication that Samsung Galaxy Bixby would support other languages instead. The company is also reported to compete with notable rivals if it would indeed extend its multiple language support and expand its functions.

As it was stated by Samsung that Bixby would be able to accomplish 15,000 tasks on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ launch, it seems tech consumers will have to wait.
