Over the years, chemists, scientists, and pharmaceutical companies have been trying to develop effective medication for cancer. Although early cancer drugs have not been fully reliable, many research facilities continued to develop newer and better versions of cancer medication.

In recent research made at RMIT University, the Molecular Engineering Group explored the effectiveness of four types of bioactive molecules as against 5 kinds of cancer cells. Among the tests made, the gold-based molecule had stood out.

While previous metal-based cancer medications have increased successful survival rates, their efficacy is limited because of their toxic and adverse effects on the body. However, the gold-based molecules which are recently used for research showed more stability and precision.

Prior metal-based substances showed drug resistance and low lasting power. The human body tends to resist the effects of metal-based cancer drug, hance, rendering it ineffective and useless.

The case is different for gold-based molecules. In recent years, it has been proven that the human body can readily accept gold. Research also showed that gold had been used to treat various health conditions.

The use of gold-based molecules in cancer medicines are made to target cancer cells while leaving the healthy cells of the body unharmed. This shows incredible potential for developing cancer-fighting medication. A medication that delivers long-lasting relief, precise medication, and more stable effect.

These gold-based substances were used in pre-clinical tests and showed to be 24 times more effective than cisplatin. Cisplatin is one of the more popular anti-cancer drugs used in most chemotherapy cases.

Gold-based molecules also showed that they are more reliable in reducing the risk of tumor growth. These molecules are designed with resistance-fighting features which makes it more reliable and efficient compared to other chemotherapy treatment substances.

The gold molecules were tested against breast, cervical, prostate, colon, and melanoma cancer cells, and it showed that these gold molecules are highly cytotoxic. Gold-based compounds also offer inhibiting features against thioredoxin reductase which is responsible for cancer progression and drug resistance.

Isn't this an amazing breakthrough?

This terrific medical innovation will truly be a golden road to a cancer-free future!
