The Chinese government is currently piling up a list of technologies it can use to fight the new coronavirus (COVID-19) after its top leadership emphasizes on the rising importance of technology in taking the infectious illness under control at every home.

Relatively the government officials have collected a database of over 2,000 new technologies, including their providers which range from automatic detection of temperature to hospital information systems and diagnosis. This was stated in a post the Ministry of Science and Technology posted early this week.

In relation to the post, the ministry said it was planning to multiply the applications that are technology-based among communities and hospitals which have consistently been on the frontlines of this coronavirus outbreak, and to businesses that are currently coping with the almost two months' duration of lockdown.

Initially, a list of roughly 283 tech products was released on the website of the ministry this month, that cover solution for both diagnosis and treatment for COVID-19, the building of hospital information systems, and the delivery systems for disinfection services and essential supplies, the post-tested.

To Adopt and Apply New Tech

The initiatives aim to encourage adopting and applying the latest technologies in an obedient and effective way, not to mention, supporting the prevention of outbreak and resuming of businesses, the ministry said.

This assembling of technologies into one platform has transpired amidst the call of Chinee president Xi Jinping, for both science and technology to offer strong support to fight coronavirus.

A positive development has been made over the last month as this country coordinated the 12-state departments to formulate treatment plans, carry out studies into vaccines and build viral and epidemiology pathology frameworks.

This was according to an article which Jinping wrote.

Throughout the history of mankind, Jinping added, "science and technology have been the most effective weapons to fight the disease." And, to overcome big epidemics and tragedies, humans, the president added, cannot live without innovation or technological advancement.

In relation to this, Jinping called for the collective initiatives across the nation to fast-track the studies into biological technologies, life science, health care and medical equipment (including COVID-19 scanner), and level-up capabilities in the prevention of outbreak, and public health systems.

COVID-19 Scanner and Other Tech Devices Proposed

In a meeting with the Politburo Standing Committee, the leading policymaking body of China earlier this month, Jinping called for hastening or hurrying in the development of the new infrastructures like the date centers and 5G networks to help promote growth as China copes with the financial effect which the outbreak caused.

In addition, the use of artificial intelligence of AI, as well as the other technologies have surged as this country taps into self-governing solutions which range from "robotic cleaners to voice assistants" as contributors in containing the fatal and fast-spreading COVID-19.

The Chinese AI business newbie, Yitu Technology, telecom giant, Huawei Technologies and the Alibaba Group, South China Morning Post's parent company, have offered AI-supported services to help in the analysis of "computerized axial tomography or CAT scans" which hospitals can use as COVID-19 scanner to diagnose patients they suspect to have the illness.
