An adorable but delicate pair of panda twins have been born in China sometime last month with names "Ping Ping" and "An An", meaning "safe" and "sound" respectively in aims to bring hope to the world going through the pandemic.

A certain video was released by the state broadcaster CCTV that shows both baby pandas resting inside an incubator with their black-and-white fur. The cubs were previously brought into this world by a certain 16-year-old giant panda back in March 17 at a specific breeding center located in China. They were the very first in the world to ever experience a set of twins being born into captivity this year.

The birth of Safe and Sound

The mother panda was given the name Fuwa whichc translates to "lucky doll" for being able to give birth to the panda twins at the Chengdu Research and Breeding Base of Giant Panda located in south-eastern China. A rare footage even showed Fuwa holding her own pink cubs and licking them with much affection right after they were born.

According to a certain researcher at the center, this is actually the fifth time that Fuwa has once again become a mother and that it is extremely rare for pandas to give birth during spring time. Wu Kongju also noted that Fuwa is turning 17 this very year and already has eight babies.

Ms. Wu also added that "It is also rare for Fuwa to show this much affection towards her babies. We are very glad," according to her observation of Fuwa's actions and panda's actions in general.

The twin pandas

The baby pandas were weighing 0.35 pounds and 0.26 pounds respectively when they were first born. The healthy one-month-old panda cubs are said to now weight over 2.2 pounds and 1.76 pounds respectively.

The twin pandas were reported to still have both of their eyes closed as panda cubs usually open their eye for the very first time only when they reach about six to eight weeks of age. The research team has also given the cubs the whole round-the-clock monitoring and care for their daily temperatures.

The mother Fuwa also receives extra care along with nutritious meals in order to help her recover from her very recent labor. Ms. Wu stated that the staff at this particular panda center have made a very swift response to the whole coronavirus outbreak in late January.

The keepers were able to store a huge amount of bamboo in order to ensure that the pandas would be able to munch on a sufficient supply of food for the time being. They have also said that they are closely monitoring the activities of all the animals as spring is actually a mating season for these giant pandas.

Safe and Sound or rather known as Ping Ping and An An were met with much excitement by not only the staff, but the rest of the world.
