Some individuals believe that oxygen deprivation and neurological harm are induced by wearing surgical masks, particularly in children.

More than 1.1 million people worldwide have been killed by COVID-19, including more than 219,000 in less than a year in the USA. Given the evidence that hides the sluggish propagation of the virus, there is doubt about its application.

The motives for their resistance differ among the deniers.

One argument that appears to occur in social media posts is that masks trigger oxygen deficiency in the brain.

A viral Facebook post transcribing a video message by neurologist Margareta Griesz-Brisson, which YouTube removed for breaching its terms of service, claims masks, particularly in children, can trigger neurological harm.

Before making the article, the Facebook user did not respond whether she fact-checked the details.

No Indication That Masks Are Unsafe

Health practitioners deny reports the masks drop oxygen to unsafe amounts.

"While masks can block particles like respiratory droplets and aerosols that might contain coronavirus, they do not block gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide," said Linsey Marr, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Tech and an expert in airborne disease transmission.

In contrast to walking without a mask, a new study of persons wearing surgical masks when walking around showed no noticeable increases in carbon dioxide in their breath or oxygen in their blood.

In a post on the medical center's website, Jonathan Parsons, a pulmonologist at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and head of the Ohio State Asthma Center, answered these arguments.

He said, "Fortunately, the flurry of complaints has also given rise to a variety of extremely productive presentations in which medical professionals demonstrate their excellent amounts of oxygen when trying on numerous masks and even many masks at once." Believe in these marches, and they are real. The frequent usage of masks is expected for many occupations, and the people who wear them should not suffer as a consequence.

Wearing masks in public is advised by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It warns kids under two years of age not to wear masks.

Blame COVID-19 For Causing Neurological Disorders, Not Masks

Experts deny that wearing a mask, even in infants, contributes to brain harm.

"The neurological complications seen in COVID-19 are predominately the secondary effects of being severely ill and suffering from low oxygen levels in the body for prolonged periods of time," Dr. Jennifer Frontera, a professor in the Department of Neurology at NYU Langone Health, said in a news release.

Studies also related neurological disorders, such as confusion, strokes and seizures, to the virus itself.

An analysis conducted by researchers at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine this month showed that these complications were faced by one in seven contaminated patients.

Iovine said, "The comments of wearing a mask are precisely the reverse of what the fact is." "There is a better risk of that occurring when not wearing a mask."
