The sound of VR humans, which harbor similar facial expressions and voices of the dead, may seem like a sci-fi and dystopian movie. More so would be the case if loved ones actually get to communicate with deceased individuals.

AI That Enables You to Talk With the Deceased

Daily Mail reports how a Korean AI Firm, DeepBrain AI, has turned this vision into a reality. The firm has presented a service, which may be questionable for some, that could help family and friends cope with their losses.

The AI technology specifically utilized machine learning for the processing of audio recordings, video footage, and images of individuals who recently passed away. This is done in order to come up with a virtual version of the disease that is capable of communicating with the living.

This product of theirs is known as Re;memory. Technode Global reports that this is a digital human service grounded on AI technology that creates a persona of deceased individuals. This persona covers details such as the person's voice and physique.

Interesting Engineering reports how the company uses image synthesis tech to come up with a comprehensive virtual human even when it comes to movement, facial expressions, and lip-syncing. The firm also uses AI that utilizes speech recognition and natural language processing (NLP) technology in order to enable real-time communication.

After taking hours to process data, Re;memory enables a 30-minute-long virtual reunion with the deceased loved one. Within this period, individuals may talk with the virtual human or boot a video message for special occasions. Other than that, individuals can also come up with biographic videos that are customized for each household member. They may even conduct a memorial service alongside the virtual human.

Beyond that, the software is also capable of catering to queries about grieving and exchanging memories.

Re;memory Service Details

This service was showcased by DeepBrain AI during the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. The costs of creation are estimated to range from £10,000 to £20,000. Another fee of £1,000 would be placed whenever the loved one wants to interact with the virtual person.

The services are provided through a memorial showroom with an HD sound system and 400-inch-screen is added to enhance the experience. This space is entirely private and intimate, meaning that only dear individuals may relive the sentimental moments.

DeepBrain AI's Other Artificial Intelligence Endeavors

While this is a noteworthy AI feat, the deceased are not the only ones that DeepBrain AI is capable of transforming into virtual humans. Interesting Engineering reports how before such an endeavor, DeepBrain AI came up with a news presenter's virtual version on one national TV channel. It also uncovered South Korea president Yoon Seok-Yeoul's virtual version.

Because of its remarkable innovation, DeepBrain AI has been chosen to be an honoree for the Virtual and Augmented Reality listing in the CES Innovation Awards 2023.
