Tiktok use ge0_2001 immediately pulled out his phone to record a video from his window of a bizarre pigeon waddling along on a roof that seemingly has massive feet that is not in proportion with its size.

The footage went immediately went viral on social media, although it was only a few seconds long. Other Tiktok users were also amazed by the bizarre huge feet of the pigeon, with approximately 350,000 viewers have watched the video on Tiktok since mid-April, Tag 24 reported.

People on the internet tried solving the mystery of the creepy bird, which turned out that there is a scientific explanation for the illusion of such massive feet.

Tiktok Users Solving the Mystery of the Pigeon's Huge Feet

Tiktok users were confused as much as the user who posted the video about why the pigeon looks like it has big feet, Daily Star reported. They were skeptical as to why the bird seems to walk that way. Some comments were even asking what creature it was on the video, while some joked about its appearance.

One person commented and joked: "You hear him before you see him." Then a second user added: "He doesn't walk he slaps the floor."

While another Tiktok user commented: "At first I thought it was a bird and then I saw the feet and thought it was a seal on a boat launch then realized it's actually a bird with big feet?"

However, someone who has experience in keeping pigeons offered a rational explanation of the pigeon in the video. The commenter said that it was a pigeon breed that has feathers on its feet.

Another user added that his three pigeons also look similar to the one in the video. They have big feathers that grow on their feet and legs.

Genetic Variations Caused Pigeons To Have Feathered Feet

Indeed, the feathers on the feet of the pigeon recorded in the video showed an illusion that it has massive feet, contrary to typical pigeons who have scaly legs.

The Earth Site News reported that pigeons have special feathers around their legs, which are referred to as a leg muff. It turns out, the pigeon on the video has very fluffy feathers that gave an illusion of having massively flappy feet.

Genetic variations in the "slipper" or "grouse" gene could have caused the small number of feathers in the pigeon's feet to grow very long. These feathers were called muffs because of an irate driver who filmed himself getting "mugged off" by a pigeon that refuses to move out from its spot on the road, Daily Star previously reported

The Earth Site News added that the strange walk of the pigeon could also be attributed to its outward-pointing toes that make it walk a little bit of a waddle.
