AI-Powered ChatGPT Recommends Most Thoughtful Christmas Gifts [Report]

Artificial Intelligence (AI) could help you get the best present for your loved ones. Peter Hess, the US Senior Science reporter for DailyMail.com, used ChatGPT to get his family members their Christmas presents, and they loved it.

ChatGPT Recommends Most Thoughtful Presents

Hess shared in a column for DailyMail the stuff he got for his family members. He said he only has $100 and asked ChatGPT for recommendations before he did his Christmas shopping.

When he used ChatGPT, he had three rules - he would choose one from ChatGPT's gift ideas, he wanted a specific gift, he would buy the specific item only if it's within his budget -- $100 per person.

He described the personalities of the people he wanted to buy gifts. First is his fiancée Sara, who has a cat and loves science fiction and fantasy like the "Lord of the Rings," "Hunger Games," "Harry Potter," and "Annihilation." Sara also loves to wear baby blue.

ChatGPT recommends a baby blue lounge set, bookish jewelry, gold and silver mixed jewelry or a TV series box set. Since he had already brought her a silver necklace and DVD for HBO's "Watchmen" series, Hess asked for another set of recommendations and the AI chatbot recommended a "storyboard kit" to help Sara "visually map out the plot and scenes of her TV series."

However, he argued that the "storyboard kit" didn't exist in stores. The chatbot encouraged him to do a little footwork to put together the best gift for Sara and suggested art materials like sketchbook, colored pencils, high-quality drawing pencils, sticky noted, index cards, fine-tip colored pens, stickers and folders to organize everything.

Sara was impressed with the present because she loved drawing, doodling and writing. She also found the Post-its and index cards useful for mapping out her story ideas for a book or pilot. She added that she was very excited to start making her storyboard.

"As reluctant as I am to admit it, ChatGPT had recommended one of the most thoughtful gifts I could give: a set of tools to help her work toward a dream," Hess wrote.

Hess also used the AI-chatbot when he got his present for his mom, dad, and older sister. They were all impressed by the presents they received.

ChatGPT even got the item they needed. For instance, he bought his mom a walking shoe. Unfortunately, she just bought one for herself but it only proved that the AI system made a logical choice.

Her mom, nevertheless, loved his choice of shoes. She was happy with the sneakers' look, feel, and fit. The color that ChatGPT recommended also received a thumbs-up from his mom.

Best AI Innovations

ChatGPT and other generative AI are among the best AI innovations this year. The chatbot is reportedly also helpful in the medicine field.

According to Dr. Harvey Castro, a Dallas, Texas-based board-certified emergency medicine physician and national speaker on AI in health care, it "revolutionized healthcare communication."

A previous study claimed that ChatGPT gives quality information and is even more empathetic than human doctors. A panel of physicians preferred its responses to 195 medical questions over the answers from human doctors. The study concluded that doctors could utilize ChatGPT to provide patients with prompt, incredibly informative responses to their questions.
