About 245 to 66 million years ago, non-bird dinosaurs roamed the Earth. That was during the Mesozoic Era, millions of years ago, before the first Homo sapiens appeared and a time when the gradually split from one big continent into smaller ones.
Although they no longer exist today, modern technology has found ways to let people experience as if they are just there. Many movies, games, and even parks with life-size versions of dinosaurs have been made to inform and entertain people.
Now Google has developed a new AR technique that lets people view and turns their homes into a mini Jurassic World.
Google AR Technique for 3D Animals
Earlier this year, LifeHacker reported Google's AR technique to place a 3D animated image of an animal right into anyone's home. All that is needed is a little curiosity, a browser, and an ARCore or ARKit-ready iPhone or Android phone.
On a Twitter post by Zach Klein, he stumbled upon this Google trick when he looked up, "How big is a wolf?" for his five-year-old son.

So I Google it... Google’s first result is the option (in browser!) to place a realistic wolf in the room with us so we can walk around it and see for ourselves.

He discovered that it does not have to Google the whole question, simply type the name of the animal and a 3D animated version of it will appear.

To check if a phone is ARCore or ARKit-ready, meaning it can use the phone's camera to add the 3D elements on the environment, just open the browser and search for "wolf" or "lion." If the phone has that capability, an option "View in 3D" will appear near the top of the search results.

The 3D animal, such as a lion, will even be moving around and flick its tail and yawn a bit. To place the animal into the surroundings or "object," simply select "AR" and see it move on a blank white background.
Other animals available on Google's AR technique include a wolf, tiger, bear, horse, dog, eagle, shark, giant panda, alligator, penguin, Shetland pony, pug, raccoon, and macaw.
3D Dinosaurs for a Mini Jurassic Park
Of course, Google did not forget the all-time favorite animal, the dinosaurs, in their augmented reality feature. Any Jurassic World enthusiast can now Google velociraptor and see it move live.
Just like when viewing a 3D animal, Google the name of the dinosaur using your mobile phone and tap "View in 3D" to rotate or zoom in and set it up close. This will bring the dinosaur into the surroundings with AR, plus its size can be adjusted depending on how big it is in relation to the things in the environment.

On Android devices, the user may turn up the volume to hear the thudding footsteps and roars of each dinosaur.
The top ten dinosaurs that can be viewed in 3D using Google's AR technique are tyrannosaurus rex, velociraptor, triceratops, spinosaurus, stegosaurus, brachiosaurus, ankylosaurus, dilophosuarus, pteranodon, and parasaurolophus.
Like the AR animals, this is not a perfect science because there are more features to be used on Android compared to an iPhone. It also works better indoors, according to LifeHacker.
