In a hilarious video that has amassed tens of thousands of retweets and more than 180,000 reactions, Tim Peake, a British crew member, is seen scrambling in an attempt to escape a gorilla.

This left his colleague horrified after sneaking an entire gorilla suit "onboard the International Space Station," a Daily Express report specified.

The viral video was described as an "epic prank" from Scott Kelly, an American engineer who, back in 2016, had the gorilla suit sent into space on a resupply mission. He hid from Peake in a soft-side storage container he was operating.

In the video, Peake is seen desperately floating away from the gorilla. It was indeed a classic trick, in an extraordinary moment away from the typical serious work aboard the ISS.

Scott performed the prank in celebration of his year in a space mission. He spent 340 days in space, which is equivalent to 5,000 orbits around Earth.

Viral Video Footage With 40,000 Retweets

Filmmaker Todd Spence brought back the memory when he shared the video footage on Twitter saying Astronaut Mark Kelly once sneaked in an entire gorilla suit onboard the ISS.

No one knew about the scheme, according to a similar The World News report. One day, without anyone knowing, he wore it. The video has gathered 40,000 retweets and over 180,000 reactions, with many subscribers commenting that it had made them laugh.

One comment expressed hope that at least a few individuals watching from this planet didn't have any idea "this was coming."

Another reply asked the question of whose idea was the prank to bring a gorilla suit to the ISS and that person should be put accountable for many things.

Another comment said it would be funny to know how much it would cost to send a gorilla suit to the space station.

"Needed a little humor to lighten up" a year in space, Scott tweeted at the time, per The Sun.

Celebrating James Webb Space Telescope's Unfolding

The viral video comes as engineers at NASA will be celebrating the following completion of the unfolding of the James Webb Space Telescope.

This maneuver was the last step of the $10 billion worth of the two-week deployment phase of the observatory that started with a launch on Christmas Day.

The James Webb telescope, which has already journeyed over 600,000 miles through space, is the hugest, most powerful space telescope ever constructed. Described by scientists as a "time machine," it will enable astronomers to examine the beginning of the universe.

Named after a former NASA administrator, James Webb has yet to travel 400,000 miles to its destination and has yet to have five more months for its instruments to be carefully attuned.

The space telescope will provide the opportunity to capture images of the galaxies to form following the Big Bang, understand the birth and evolution of stars, and examine the probability for life to appear in planetary systems.
