What if it can't find the signal on your phone? Our device may show us that there is no signal coverage or mobile data connection. Probably most phone users have ever faced signal problems with EE. It is understandable that we may not have a signal when we are in a place where there is no coverage, and this should not surprise anyone. There may also be various technical concerns on the part of the mobile operator.

What if we are in a place with coverage and the phone still can't find the signal? I invite you to read an article in which I will show you some steps that can help you restore the signal on your phone. Before you go any further, please start with the trivial and easiest thing you can do. Turn your phone off and on again. Very often, this is enough to solve signal problems with EE. Restarting the phone closes all running apps and frees up memory, which can fix some temporary errors in the system. If this doesn't help, check out the following methods.

You've made sure you're in a location with coverage. You've turned your phone off and on again. There's nothing wrong with your mobile operator. What should you do next? You need to check that the signal settings on your phone are correct. They may have been changed by an app, or you may have done it by mistake. No signal can also be a sign of a faulty SIM card. It's also possible that the signal problem can only be solved by restoring the phone's factory settings, restarting the software, or updating it. However, the worst-case scenario is when the device itself is faulty because that can happen too. It may be that one of the components that support the mobile signal has simply failed.

When a mobile device loses connection with the mobile signal, it becomes impossible to use its basic functions, such as calls or text messages. What should you do if your phone is out of signal coverage? Here are some tips!

Let's find out the signal

Look at the number of dashes in the right corner of the screen. If you see at least one on the signal strength indicator, it means that your phone has a mobile signal connection, but it is unstable.

If there are no bars on your phone screen at all, it means that your phone has no coverage at all. In this situation, try the following steps.

What should I do if my phone does not work with the signal? Restart your phone (soft reset)

The first thing you should try if your phone is out of signal coverage is a soft reset. To do this, turn your phone off and on again and see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't work, move on.

Set up your phone

Turn off airplane mode. You may accidentally turn it on without knowing it and then have issues accessing the signal.

Check that you have correctly configured the signal mode supported by our SIM card. In the settings of the preferred mode, switch to automatic. Then the phone will not be limited to one specific mode but will switch between them in search of the best one at the moment. (2G, 3G, 4G)

Make sure that data transfer is turned on

Try to find any signal on your device. You can do this in the signal settings, in the "Network operators" section. Set a specific signal there, for example, for your operator, or find available signals.

Check if special saving modes are enabled, For example, the Uctel specialists want to highlight the case of STAMINA on Sony devices, which temporarily suspends data transmission when the screen is off, which in extreme cases can cause general signal problems.

If the phone is rooted, restore the default settings in the apps that modify the system, and then remove root privileges. One of the apps may have interfered with the signal settings too much. If you don't know if your phone is rooted, chances are it's not.

Check SIM card

If your phone doesn't have coverage, check your SIM card.

Another solution to the issue of no coverage on your phone is to check your SIM card. The SIM card may not be recognized by your phone or may have been inserted incorrectly.

Check the position of the SIM card in the slot and make sure it is not damaged. You can do this by inserting it into another smartphone.

If the problem is not related to the SIM card, try the following methods:

  1. The SIM card may be defective. To check this, insert it into another phone.

  2. If the signal problem on the other phone is the same, it means that it needs to be replaced. To do this, contact your operator, who usually replaces the SIM card for free.

  3. Cleaning the card itself may also help.

  4. If, on the other hand, after installing the SIM card in another phone, the signal is fine, the issue is with your hardware.

  5. You can also try blowing out the SIM card slot in your phone and cleaning the tray if it's dirty. Even a little dirt can mean that the contacts are not making proper contact and the card is not being read properly by the phone.

  6. Therefore, you should try to wipe the SIM card before getting it dirty.

Restore to factory settings / Update

If changing the settings doesn't help and you've ruled out other possible sources of the issue, you can try to fix the error by updating the system. The latest software often contains bug fixes and better security, and it should provide better performance. Of course, this option is not available to everyone. You can do this if your device has actually received a software update. Then we shouldn't lose any personal data. If our phone has not received any new updates, then we have to either restore the factory settings or download the software manually. I would recommend the latter option, but it's only for advanced users. If you don't know what it means, use a factory reset. Of course, both ways involve losing all your files and resetting the entire configuration of your phone and the applications installed on it. Make sure you back up your data before you try to play around with the system.

Damaged phone

In the end, if none of the above tips help, it's quite possible that we'll have to return the phone for repair.

  • Either under warranty (if you have one) or simply for repair.

  • It is possible that a component of the phone that is responsible for communication or the mobile signal is broken.

  •  Maybe even the SIM card reader is damaged.

If you don't lose money because you still have a warranty on the device, you will definitely lose the ability to use the phone and be forced to use a replacement for the duration of the repair, which is not very pleasant. You can return your phone for repair when you are 100% sure that it is not the fault of the coverage, operator, SIM card, or settings/system. Even if the phone turns out to be faulty, you will pay for the diagnostics that should have been carried out by specialists at the service center.

If none of the above tips help, and you still don't get any signal, take your phone to a service center or to your carrier's headquarters. A qualified Uctel team will surely be able to help you fix signal problems with ee. You can also reset your phone to factory settings, but remember that this will delete all saved files, photos, and videos.
