The fascination of Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for Mars, according to recent reports, is well-documented . For the first time, he spoke about wanting a 'multiplanetary' life on the Red Planet.

NDTV reported that the company executive has put his time and effort behind the exploration of Mars, as well as its ability to support life.

Yesterday, Musk posted on his Twitter account saying, "Make life multiplanetary! # Mars." The said news report specified that this is not the first time he has talked about making life 'multiplanetary.'

In 2016, this tech billionaire also shared his vision to form a colony of Martians. It was said to be a part of this vision that that SpaceX devised reusable rocketry.

Early Mars Exploration Missions

Discussing during the International Astronautical Congress in Mexico, Musk explained that there's a need to go from the early Mars exploration missions to actually building a city.

Additionally, according to a similar LENEX WEB report, Musk mentioned the spacecraft would be thrilling or fun and would be equipped with amenities like cabins, restaurants, movies, and zero-gravity games.

In 2017, the CEO said he wanted SpaceX to get a pair of cargo ships to the Red Planet by 2022. A manned mission would then follow two years after.

One year after, in 2018, SpaceX also launched its first-ever Falcon Heavy rocket. The company shot the cherry-red Tesla Roadster of Musk into deep space. A spacesuit-clad 'Starman' dummy occupied the driver's seat,

Then, in August 2019, the car completed its initial orbit around the Sun. Nonetheless, in spite of numerous successes, the timeline of Musk for his plans for the Red Planet has been reported to have wavered through the years.

In 2020, the Business Insider reported, he said he now hoped to send a million people to Mars by the year 2050. He spoke about creating many jobs as well on the planet.

Here, he even posted on Twitter he was accumulating resources to help make life multi-planetary and extend consciousness's light to the stars.

1,000 Starships in 10 Years

On top of what Musk mentioned about wanting life to be 'multi-planetary,' SpaceX also hoped to construct 1,000 Starships in 10 years. These are the reusable spaceships being developed by the South Texas-based company.

Musk opened up about how he divided his riches between his plans for Earth and Mars. He also tweeted that about 50 percent of his money is intended to address problems on Earth, and a half to support the establishment of a self-sustaining city on Mars.

This is to guarantee the continuation of life there, in case Earth gets hit by a meteor or should World War III happens "and we destroy ourselves."

This continued passion of Musk for Mars, as well as outer space, generally, has also had its fair share of critics.

US Senator Bernie Sanders recently said that space travel is an exciting idea although, at present, there is a need to focus on Earth and develop a progressive tax system in order for the children not to get hungry.
