According to the outgoing director of the Pentagon UFO Office Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick, the best outcome of the UAP investigations would be to prove the existence of aliens.

Pentagon UFO Director's Assessment Amidst Looming Retirement

Dr. Kirkpatrick further explains that the alternative explanation to extraterrestrial life would be that a foreign power could be doing something in the Earth's backyard, further adding that this would not be good if it were indeed the case.

The Pentagon official, who serves as the director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), explained this assessment as the news came that he would be stepping down and retiring from government service.

His 18-month term as the first director of the AARO has been filled with controversy. Though there are several UFO whistleblowers that accuse Dr. Kirkpatrick cultivating an atmosphere of disinterest, others think that his superiors could be holding back the AARO office even if there were a few who had some good experiences with AARO.

Dr. Kirkpatrick explains that there are tasks with the AARO that he hopes to accomplish. These tasks include the Historical Record Report of the AARO on UFOs. It is due in June 2024 for Congress, roughly six months after the departure of Dr. Kirkpatrick.

During a press conference after Halloween, Dr. Kirkpatrick explained that there was a new reporting mechanism that was made to aid the office in investigating claims made by UFO programs in the US that are remarkably secretive and possibly illegal. The mechanism is for former and current government employees, service members, and contractors who are familiar with the US government activities or programs related to UAPs since 1945.

Ongoing UAP Mystery

Ever since public focus on UFOs became evident in December 2017, scientists, devotees, and government officials have reframed these mysteries to be called UAPs, or unidentified aerial/anomalous phenomena. This new label comes with hopes to boost caution and minimize preconceived beliefs regarding these aerial mysteries.

When Dr. Kirkpatrick was asked during the press conference if AARO has consulted officials from other countries to pool data on UAPs, Dr. Kirkpatrick explains that their concept was a national security standpoint non-starter, adding that they have not reached out to any other adversaries.

The annual UAP report of AARO found that no military UFO case was found to be linked to any foreign activities. With this, Dr. Kirkpatrick explained his worries from a national security standpoint, adding that there are indeed some signs that could be attributed to foreign actions.

Last July, the AARO director noted that the national security mandate of the AARO served as avoiding technical surprise. Dr. Kirkpatrick also explained then that the most prominent misconception is that these UAPs are all the same and extraterrestrial, which are both not true.
