If you're susceptible to drinking every day and can't say no to another bottle, your well being may be at risk.

People who consume significant amounts of alcohol every day are highly at risk of being reliant on it. Recent research demonstrates just how significantly it can impact the life expectancy of an individual.

Unfortunately, a recent report shows that consuming too much alcohol daily will wreak havoc to your body and shave off your life for up to 28 years.

How Experts Came Up With The Numbers

In Sweden, studies from the Karolinska Institutet studied mortality and life expectancy of people with alcohol use disorder.

The data obtained from 1987 to 2006 included 1,158,486 persons in Denmark, Finland and Sweden.

They observed that in adults with substance use disorder, life expectancy was 24 to 28 years lower than in the general population.

People with substance use disorder, researchers said, have greater mortality from all causes of death.

The average life expectancy of individuals hospitalized for substance use disorder is 53 years old, while women have an average life expectancy of 58 years old.

According to the latest figures from the National Statistics Office (ONS), the average life expectancy for men in the UK is about 79 years old.

This life expectancy raises marginally to 83 years of age for women in the UK.

Needless to say, that's an extremely important drop in mortality, and we recognize what risk factors raise among people who consume in substantial doses, due to a plethora of studies about the impact of alcohol on the human body.

What is Alcohol Use Disorder?

The Mayo Clinic said the disorder could lead anyone preoccupied with alcohol.

Binge drinking - a trend whereby a male consumes five or six beverages within two hours - is often found with unhealthy alcohol usage.

Drinking four beverages within two hours is called binge drinking for females.

Binge drinking poses serious health and safety threats, the Mayo Clinic added.

Based on the amount of signs you encounter, alcohol use disorder can be mild, moderate or extreme.

If you consume habitually, it is not only the liver that hurts, but also the heart and cardiovascular system as a whole. Alcoholism has been correlated with erratic pulse, stroke, and other possibly severe problems, but it is striking to see how many years the condition will rob off someone's life.

Whether you or someone you know has an alcohol use disorder, it is important for you to get a specialist to get the best type of treatment.

Depending on the individual circumstances of the person, leaving a heavy drinking problem without proper assistance may be risky and sometimes fatal.

It's not something where you should simply kick and then live with the side effects of stopping smoking or some other toxic problem on your own like you would be able to.
