A double infection called "flurona" was first detected in a woman this week at Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva, different news media said recently.

Mail Online reported that according to the hospital, the patent, who hasn't been vaccinated against any pathogen yet, was already feeling well and was expected for discharge from the hospital later Thursday.

The young pregnant woman became the first person worldwide to be infected with both coronavirus and the flu, at the same time. She tested positive for viruses later this week.

She was suffering mild symptoms and health officials in Israel are currently investigating her case to find out if the combination is causing any greater severity of the illness.

The woman's "flurona" case is the first documented occurrence in the world, although doctors believe there could be more infections of this two-in-one virus in the country.

Flurona Diagnosis

In a Hamodia report, the director of the hospitals' Gynecology Department Professor Arnon Vizhnitser, said the patient was diagnosed with the flu and coronavirus as soon as she arrived.

Both tests had positive results, even after "we checked in," explained Professor Vizhnitser adding, they are viral and that they are causing difficulty breathing since both viruses are attacking the upper respiratory tract.

The professor also said they are seeing more and more pregnant women who had the flu. He added, it certainly a challenge attending to a woman who enters the department "with a fiver at childbirth.

This specifically is when the infection is unknown if it is COVID-19 or the flu. Therefore, they're referred to them the same. Most of the infection is respiratory.

In the Middle of a 5th Surge?

Nitzan Horowitz, on Friday, announced the move, citing their high susceptibility and exposure to infections. Essentially, Israel already announced the move Friday, citing their strong exposure and susceptibility to infections.

Israel had already extended a rollout of the vaccine for the fourth dose to those who have weakened, becoming the first nation to do so in hopes of combating the increase in surge driven by the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.

Booster Shots

To date, booster shots have been administered to more than four million people out of the 9.4-million population in Israel. As of Tuesday, Omicron cases have been identified in Israel, of which of the carriers lately came back from overseas.

As specified in a report from The Tech Outlook, most patients who have tested positive for both the flu and COVID-19 display similar symptoms including body aches, cough, fever, sneezing, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
